The LARALPANG Producer Group from Mawathidarshan block was formed under the FOCUS scheme. The members of the groups are engaged in poultry farming. Previously, they had faced a lot of challenges in rearing the chicks. Sometimes they didn't have enough money to buy the chicks and their feed from the market. Other times they didn’t sell their products in the market due to the absence of the proper market linkage to villages. Another hindering factor is the collectivization of the product. The poultry farmers are not collectivized, so there is no fixed price for the product. Then they formed a group under the FOCUS scheme. formed a 15-member Group named PG LARALPANG . Each of them got Rs. 5,000 from government. This PG taught them the importance of working together as a group and motivated them to collaborate and to work hard and push forward.

They pooled the money to build a Chicken coop and buy chicken feeds. They were aligned with other programs and were trained in chicken rearing.

Now they are selling their chicken in bulk so they have more customers than before and earning a good profit from it. The members of the group thanked the government of Meghalaya and HCM Conrad K Sangma for the FOCUS scheme and other farmer-centric initiatives.
