Government of Meghalaya introduced FOCUS scheme to help the famers with their produce and earn their livelihood

Meghalaya, a government that places a high priority on agriculture launched FOCUS—Farmers Collectivization for Upscaling Production and Marketing Systems—which has helped thousands of farmers and Producer Groups earn more.

Meghalaya’s FOCUS scheme allows farmers and producers to further improve their livelihood activities through direct and timely financial support.Farmers like Bablu M Sangma who weren’t aware of this scheme, also benefitted after realizing the potential of the scheme. Like other farmers, the FOCUS team explained the benefits which ultimately resulted in the formation of their Producer Group.Both individual and producer groups are benefitting from this scheme.

Under the ‘Chief Minister’s Mobilization Support for Producers’ Program, launched in 2021 the government of Meghalaya extends its support to the farmer and producer group with easy access to credits, better transportation, and marketing infrastructure to level up their enterprises.

FOCUS- Farmers’ Collectivization for Upscaling Production and Marketing Systems – Support in Funding, Value Chain development, machinery support, market linkages, transportation, and aggregation of produce are a few of its services. An initial mobilization fund of Rs.5000/- to each member of the producer group is provided. The program aims to enhance the livelihood of Meghalaya’s farmers through interventions across the value chain.
