Terrence R Syiemiong from Laitiam, Sohra and he is a part of a multipurpose cooperative society, it has been 10 years since they started promoting tourism in their village and have registered themselves with a federation on 2018 where they were able to build cottages and campsites. Recently, they were able to come up with the Laitiam Riverside Eco-Tourism Hub through the Meghalaya Tourism Homestay Scheme. The village offers a lot of scope for tourism with many routes for trekking, lots of waterfalls, scenic views which will attract a lot of tourists from all over the world. He further stated that this is a job creation opportunity and that this is a sort of training for the younger generations.
