I've experienced incredible growth, from expanding my shop with a Rs. 30,000 loan to launching a local taxi service with a Rs. 1,50,000 loan and starting a piggery business with another Rs. 30,000 loan. My shop expansion currently earns roughly Rs. 10,000 per month, the local taxi service makes about Rs. 5,000 per month, and the piggery company earns me Rs. 40,000 per year. This has not only boosted my income but also ensured a brighter future for my family. And I'm committed to continuing to manage these firms and embracing every chance they've afforded."

Self-Help Groups (SHG) is key in providing self-employment to women –these SHGs are bringing about a sea change in the empowerment of women and promoting economic and social development in the rural areas. Over 32,000 SHGs are functional now - the majority of these groups have been formed over the last three years. The scheme intends to support the beneficiaries through easy access to credit, initial start-up funding, training facilities, market linkage support, and various other interventions.

"I'm Boklisha Kharwaniang, from Rangmaw village under Mawkyrwat C and RD Block of South West Khasi Hills District. Starting as a member of Synrangsyiem SHG, I worked my way up to Bank Sakhi and am now in the Business Correspondent Agent position. Despite challenges such as the pandemic, I've provided financial services, opened 894 accounts, processed transactions totaling Rs. 2.83 crores, and claimed a commission of Rs. 1.72 lahks. Now, with my position at work, I can financially support my family and also contribute to my society."
