However, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) proved to be a beacon of hope for his family. When prolonged stomach and back pain struck, PM-JAY enabled him to seek treatment at Nazareth Hospital in Shillong.&nbsp;Covering the costs of hospitalization and medical expenses totaling ₹2,99,289, PM-JAY relieved the family's burden during a time of crisis. Despite initial struggles, Osparly and his family received seamless support from the scheme, facilitated by village leaders and ASHA workers.&nbsp;This experience marked their first encounter with PM-JAY, showcasing its invaluable assistance during times of dire need. Osparly's gratitude towards the government's health insurance initiative underscores the profound impact it has had on his family's well-being, affirming PM-JAY as a vital lifeline for those in need.

Turning Crisis into Opportunity with Tele-Medicine intervention in Meghalaya&nbsp;With an aim to provide healthcare access to all, the Govt of Meghalaya has launched Tele-Medicine and teleconsultation services on April 29th, 2020. Within a month of the launch, the state has successfully conducted a dental surgery with the guidance of a doctor in the United States through the telemedicine facility at Jengjal in West Garo Hills District. The initiation of Telemedicine and Teleconsultation services is part of the second strategy and is a decentralized leadership model aimed at bringing about a positive change in the health-seeking behavior of people, especially during these trying times

Tele-Medicine intervention in Meghalaya

Meghalaya ranks Second after Telangana in Nationwide Immunization Coverage&nbsp;Meghalaya has been able to achieve 90 per cent immunization coverage and now ranks second alongside Kerala, only after Telangana, in terms of immunization coverage in India. Meghalaya, along with the rest of the world has been making all possible efforts to contain the spread of novel. As per the National Family Health Survey, Meghalaya has covered 61.4% immunization program between 2015-16 to achieving 90% in July 2020

Providing every citizen with adequate health facilities is a key focus area of the government. With an aim to provide easy access to hospitals, the government of Meghalaya has undertaken various projects to develop new health centers and upgrade the existing health infrastructure of CHCs, PHCs, SCs, Ayushman Bharat Health, and Wellness Centres across the state. Telemedicine and Teleconsultation services have also been initiated and many new health projects are in the pipeline.

Meghalaya's health team battled heavy rain, leeches and snakes trek treacherous terrain for 3 hours to take COVID-19 vaccine to the most hard-to-reach and inaccessible areas in remote villages of Kulang, Amarsang, Thadteja and Pormawdar villages under Ranikor CHC in&nbsp;South West Khasi Hills district,. The villagers had been eagerly waiting to get themselves vaccinated. Despite all odd, the team managed to vaccinate a total of 147 beneficiaries in all these villages
