Iowanka Passah, a single mother from Mooralang, Jowai, had long held the dream of owning her own home, but economic hardships made it seem unattainable. To support her family and educate her children, she worked as a street tea porter, gradually saving enough to open a tea shop. With her children's help, the shop's income increased, allowing her to save for her dream home on a piece of land gifted by her grandmother. In 2016, she became eligible for the PMAY scheme, valued at 1.5 lakh, and, with her savings and her children's support, she built her dream house, completed in January 2020. Though small, the house symbolizes unity, understanding, and accomplishment for her family.

I am Samjrong Chyrmang, residing in Mihmyntdu Village, West Jaintia Hills. Previously, I strugglec make ends meet through manual labor, barely earning enough to survive. My dream of owning a bette house seemed unattainable due to my limited income.Thanks to the PMAYG Scheme, I was able to turn my dream into reality. With the support of the scheme, received Rs 1,30,000 in three installments, directly into my bank account. This funding enabled me to onstruct a quality house with essential facilities like a toilet and LPG connection. With the coordination f the Village Employment Council (VEC) and the Block Office, I successfully completed my new home.Now, I enjoy a better standard of living, all thanks to the assistance provided through the PMAYGScheme.

Smt. Siannibha Sajem from Thadsning village, a poor lady with no house and no land was living a tough life. Due to lack of basic house facilities, she suffered from various health and safety issues. Looking at her poor socio-economic condition, village darbar donated a&nbsp;plot of land to her. With the support from villagers, she applied for financial support of Rs 1,30,000 under PMAY-G scheme and received the benefit. With the convergence of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, she also received an unskilled wage of ₹19,285 for 95 person days. Not only this, she got her house toilet constructed from financial assistance under Swachch Bharat Abhiyan and free electricity connection through Saubhagya Scheme. The scheme was a blessing for her and in no time her life transformed from a landless poor women to a house owner. Her house got completed on 17th Dec,2020. Today, she is living happily in her newly constructed house and is motivating others to register for PMAY-G scheme.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U), a flagship Mission of Government of India being implemented by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), was launched on 25th June 2015. The Mission addresses urban housing shortage among the EWS/LIG and MIG categories including the slum dwellers by ensuring a pucca house to all eligible urban households by the year 2022, when Nation completes 75 years of its Independence.

I am Dapki Phawa, and my livelihood solely depends on agricultural activities. Living in unhygienic conditions and facing the harsh weather was a daily struggle. Despite my low earnings, I harbored hope for a better shelter.Fortunately, as an eligible beneficiary of the PMAY Scheme, the government-sanctioned an amount of Rs 1,30,000 in 2023-24. With this support, I was able to construct a good-quality house with hygienic conditions. Now, I live in a safer and more comfortable environment, free from the hardships I once faced.
